Find in Files

Visual Studio's Find in Files stopped working for me today with the following error message:

No files were found to look in. Find was stopped in progress.

Um, okay. How strange. I haven't changed the wildcard or the search directory fields since my last search, so I double-check both and both look fine. I try searching again and get the same error message:

No files were found to look in. Find was stopped in progress.

All right then. Maybe restarting will help. Nope, same error:

No files were found to look in. Find was stopped in progress.

Okay, let's see what Google has to say. Oh, look, someone had the same problem. What's the solution? Press Control + Scroll Lock. I do, and Find in Files starts working again. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
