Geekbench 2 on the Mac App Store

I'm excited to announce that Geekbench 2 for Mac OS X is now available on the Mac App Store (in addition to the Primate Labs Store) for $12.99. I'm also excited to announce that single-platform licenses for other platform are also available on the Primate Labs Store for $12.99. This lets users on other platforms to take advantage of the same pricing available in the Mac App Store!

I'd like to take a minute and answer some of questions that might arise now that Geekbench 2 is on the Mac App Store.

Can I migrate my existing Geekbench 2 license to the Mac App Store?
No. As a user, I'd love to be able to migrate my existing software to the Mac App Store; I'd no longer have have to manage my licenses and all of my updates are in one place! As a developer, though, there's currently no way for me to migrate licenses to the Mac App Store.

Are there any changes in Geekbench 2 for the Mac App Store?
Yes. Geekbench 2 for the Mac App Store does not currently support Rosetta benchmarks. I'm investigating ways to include Rosetta benchmarks in a way that conforms with Apple's requirements for the Mac App Store.

Will Geekbench 2 become exclusive to the Mac App Store?
No, in part because Geekbench 2 is a cross-platform application. Since I'm not able to sell Windows and Linux software through the Mac App Store, there's still a need for the the Primate Labs Store! I also like having a sales and distribution channel outside the Mac App Store; this lets me support customers who are using older hardware (such as PowerPC Macs) or older operating systems.

If you've got any other questions please send me an email; I'd be happy to answer them for you!
